Position Overview
Double Down Lighting is seeking a dependable independent contractor to handle both facility cleaning and fleet maintenance. This role combines daily cleaning responsibilities with hands-on mechanical work and is best suited for someone who is self-directed, mechanically skilled, and capable of independently managing assigned tasks.
Scope of WorkFacility Cleaning (Approx. First 2 Hours Per Visit)
- Clean and maintain office areas, bathrooms, and warehouse floors
- Remove trash and maintain general cleanliness standards
- Ensure the facility remains safe, organized, and presentable
Fleet & Equipment Maintenance
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance, including:
- Oil changes
- Fuel filter replacements
- Light bulb replacements
- Troubleshoot basic mechanical and electrical issues (including liftgates)
- Maintain preventative maintenance schedules for company vehicles
- Track and maintain records of:
- Vehicle registrations
- Inspections
- Maintenance history
- Identify and report vehicle damage, wear, or safety concerns
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of vehicle interiors and exteriors
Operational Support
- Identify cost-saving opportunities related to maintenance and operations
- Coordinate repairs or outside services when needed
- Maintain tools, parts, and supplies necessary to perform work
- Provide updates on vehicle and facility condition as needed
Required Mechanical SkillsVehicle Maintenance
- Ability to perform basic to intermediate automotive maintenance:
- Oil and filter changes
- Fuel system maintenance (filters, minor components)
- Battery testing and replacement
- Basic electrical work (fuses, bulbs, simple wiring)
- Ability to diagnose common vehicle issues (starting issues, warning lights, minor electrical faults)
- Familiarity with liftgate systems (hydraulic/electrical preferred)
- Understanding of preventative maintenance practices for fleet vehicles
Facility Maintenance
- Basic building maintenance skills, including:
- Minor plumbing repairs (leaks, fixture replacement)
- Basic electrical work (switches, outlets, light fixtures)
- General handyman work (repairs, mounting, adjustments, light drywall, spackle, painting)
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools
- Understanding of general warehouse and workplace safety practices
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude (required)
- Prior experience in automotive and/or facility maintenance
- Ability to perform physical work (lifting, bending, standing)
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Valid driver’s license required
- Ability to operate up to a 26′ box truck (preferred)
Contractor Expectations
- Operates as an independent contractor responsible for completing assigned tasks
- Provides own tools where applicable
- Maintains any required licensing or insurance
- Responsible for all taxes and withholdings
- Works independently and delivers consistent results without direct supervision
Preferred Experience
- Commercial or fleet vehicle maintenance experience
- Liftgate repair or troubleshooting experience
- Prior 1099 / independent contractor experience
- Warehouse or industrial facility maintenance background

Pay: $18.00 – $20.00 per hour
