YMCA of Northern Alberta is looking for a Facility Attendant to complete high quality cleaning and general maintenance of the facility and support a better experience for our members. This position is specifically responsible for actively cleaning the male locker room while members are present.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Facility Attendant at YMCA of Northern Alberta follows safe cleaning practices while delivering high-quality cleaning, general maintenance, and excellent customer service through promptly and professionally carrying out their duties of general reception. This position is a split role between providing custodial duties at the Clearwater YMCA offices and Facility Attendant role at Eagle Ridge Community Center YMCA. It shares responsibility for customer relations for rental reception, health and safety, facility cleanliness, facility maintenance and facility procedures which meet individual partner and YMCA standards. This position requires flexible availability, working hours are in the evenings and on weekends. 40 hours a week

Approximately as follows however there is some room for flexibility

Saturday – 10 hours

Sunday -10 hours

Monday – 6.5 hours

Wednesday – 6.5 hours

Friday – 6.5 hours

Essential Functions
Create and maintain positive relationships with staff, always role models positive behavior while interacting with staff, volunteers, and patrons.
Present strong customer service skills when interacting with patrons of the Community Centre.
Greet, welcome, sign in, inform, refer, and direct all staff, volunteers, patrons, and all other persons at the front desk, address complaints and issues effectively and in a timely manner, and support mutual problem-solving; field external and internal inquiries, assist with internal room scheduling.
Regular communication with Supervisor on building status and report issues or concerns. Recommend quality improvement ideas and implement approved changes.
Attend mandatory in-services, and other required training.
Comply with standards and practices to meet all local and provincial codes as well as YMCA established practices.
Perform general maintenance duties or log requirements in the Communication Binder.
Always ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of facility by:
Circulation and spot cleaning in between rentals, making sure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free of debris.
Paper, soap supplies are fully stocked.
All areas are cleaned according to the facility cleaning checklist
Wash, dry and store all laundry in respective areas.
Full clean of all common and program areas, with occasional deep cleaning
Setting up and tearing down before and after rentals
Communicate any supplies needed to maintain inventory as needed.
Follow all Health and Safety standards of the Y. Comply with the Centre’s emergency response system and procedures.
Inspect and monitor equipment daily and complete any maintenance and cleaning checklist duties. Inform the supervisor building maintenance if repairs are needed.
Be accountable for communicating any serious health or safety issues immediately.
Consistently represent YMCA’s values and mission, encourage a healthy lifestyle, participation of others by helping out by their respective means, enrich the quality of programs and services, promote YMCA as a charity according to YMCA SAM Standards Document.
Maintain strict confidentiality of personal and organizational information in all administrative and program support duties by using information for its direct purpose only
Know and review all emergency procedures, follows all guidelines from Risk Management and Health & Safety including but not limited to, Work Alone Policy and Procedures and the Children, Youth and Vulnerable Adults Protection Policies and Procedures.
Consistently represent YMCA’s values and mission, comply with YMCA Policies, SAM Standards and funder mandates. Continuously act towards achieving both personal and YMCA goals.
What You’ll Need
Previous cleaning and/or janitorial experience is an asset
First Aid and CPR-C is an asset
Completion of High School Diploma or equivalent is an asset
Able to obtain a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search

This is a position which requires standing/walking for long periods of time.
Lifting, handling, and carrying of objects, between 25 – 35 lbs.
Repetitive motions like moping, sweeping etc.
Fluency in both verbal and written communication to ensure standards are continuously met
