Interior Health seeks an Environmental Health Officer in Penticton for a full-time position focused on health protection and community wellness initiatives. Enforce health standards and educate the public.
In this role, you will oversee inspections of food facilities, perform health risk assessments, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Your mission includes implementing strategies to reduce health risks and advocating for environmental health. You’ll also conduct public health investigations and oversee health education programs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Enforce health legislation through inspections and education
• Investigate public health complaints and risks
• Analyze laboratory results for health assessments
• Respond to environmental health emergencies effectively
• Provide guidance on community health initiatives
Requirements:
• Degree in a health-related field
• Public Health Inspection certificate required
• At least two years’ experience in a relevant role
• Registration with the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors
• Valid BC Driver’s License
