Position SummaryReporting to the Manager, Engineering, the Mechanical Engineer will provide Mechanical Engineering services and knowledge for capital projects and maintenance on the Fort Site. Create or alter application appropriate documents, specifications, drawings & packages with a focus on safety, reliability, performance and production improvements or optimization. Provides direction to internal and external stakeholders on mechanical issues and requirements.

Accountabilities

Develop engineering designs for projects, following the applicable mechanical design standards and procedures.

Support maintenance by advising on and developing equipment repairs and modifications

Prepare and review mechanical engineering documents, such as engineering and construction work packages, piping/equipment specifications and drawings, vendor packages, and design basis memorandums.

Complete and contribute to engineering studies related to adopting new technologies, improving reliability, increasing production, and implementing performance improvements

Contribute to the design of multi-disciplinary projects to assure fit-for-purpose construction, and with complete and accurate documentation

Qualifications and Skills

B. Sc. Mechanical Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology

P.Eng or P. L. Eng Designation with 6 + years of relevant experience

Working knowledge in applicable standards, i.e. ASME, CSA, PCC, ABSA, OH&S Regulations and Acts

Demonstrated capability to apply the relevant knowledge and technical skills to problems and identify relevant factors so as to make sound engineering judgement.

Ability to work with engineering tools, i.e., PV Elite, Caesar II

Ability to read and create technical drawings and documents

Excellent communication skills, written and verbal

Lean thinking/continuous improvement skills.
