Job Description

The Saskatchewan Health Authority is seeking Emergency Medicine Physicians to join an established team at Battlefords Union Hospital in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. This is an excellent opportunity to practice the full scope of emergency medicine in a busy regional referral centre serving North Battleford and the surrounding communities.

As a member of the Emergency Medicine team, you will provide comprehensive emergency care to patients of all ages, including the assessment and management of acute medical conditions, trauma, and pediatric emergencies. Physicians work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment that is supported by a range of specialist services, including Internal Medicine, Hospital Medicine, General Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Psychiatry, Anesthesia, and Diagnostic Imaging.

Battlefords Union Hospital serves as a teaching site for the University of Saskatchewan College of Medicine’s Medical Education program. Physicians interested in academic medicine will have opportunities to teach and mentor medical students and residents while contributing to the development of future healthcare professionals.

Relocation Package

Successful candidates may be eligible for the Emergency Medicine Recruitment and Retention Incentive which provides up to $200,000 over five years to qualifying candidates. Additional details can be found

Residents enrolled in their 4th or 5th postgraduate year in the Emergency Medicine (FRCP) Specialty Residency Program at the College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan may be eligible for up to $60,000 in bursary funding for years 4 and 5 of residency ($30,000/year) if residents agree to provide a return of service to the province for two years. Job Qualifications

Certified or eligible to be certified in Emergency Medicine (CCFP-EM, FRCP-EM, ABEM) Family physicians with extensive experience working in Emergency Medicine (5+ years) may be considered

Regular or Provisional License with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) (or eligible to be licensed)

Certification in the following:
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Valid driver’s license

Successful SHA credentialing including but not limited to acceptable reference checks and criminal record check with vulnerable sector

Current Canadian Medical Protective Association coverage

Legal entitlement to work in Canada
