The Sustainable Economy Division facilitates sustainable shared prosperity by enabling business opportunities and addressing barriers to growth in key sectors across B.C.

The Economic Strategy Branch leads the development and implementation of cross-government policies, strategies, and partnerships that promote informed decision-making and that support economic and business growth. The Branch also undertakes economic analysis for complex initiatives within and across ministries.

The Senior Economist leads the design and implementation of major and complex statistical and policy analysis projects and provides authoritative advice as a recognized economics expert, to government executive, on matters impacting strategic direction, major financial commitments and significant government priorities

Job Requirements:

Master’s Degree in Economics or a specialized field of economics (e.g., Economic Development, Financial Economics, International Economics), or an equivalent Master’s Degree or PhD in a closely related field (e.g., Statistics, Mathematics).

A minimum of five (5) years of experience in each of the following:

Leading the design and implementation of major and complex economic modelling projects.

Using modelling results to make recommendations that inform decision making.

Managing major projects related to economic analysis, policy development or policy/program evaluation.

Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following:

PhD in Economics.

Experience supervising staff, including assignment of work.

Experience working in the Economic Development field.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to a few days at home as per the Telework Agreement.
