We are currently looking to hire a Dock Supervisor reporting to the Operations Manager. This position is responsible for the efficient operation of a high volume dock within the Mississauga terminal, with a strong emphasis on candidates who have previous dispatcher, router, and dock leadership experience.
Shift Timings: 10 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
Some Important factors to consider:
- Strong Dispatcher/City Dispatch background (trip planning, driver management, city routing). Good understanding of GTA and surroundings.
- Hands-on Dock Operations experience, including leading shifts and managing freight flow
- Proficiency with Routemax or similar routing/dispatch systems
- Flexibility with shift timings (late finish, early start)
- Excellent use of technology (MS Excel is a must)
- Proven track record of meeting KPIs and operational goals
- Strong troubleshooting skills in both routing and dock workflows
- Long-term commitment (3+ years in previous roles)
Basic Duties:
- Leads, motivates, and manages the dock team to achieve operational goals and KPIs
- Utilizes dispatcher experience to optimize city routes, driver assignments, and load planning
- Applies routing knowledge to ensure efficient load sequencing, freight flow, and on-time departures
- Ensures all dock and dispatch communication between drivers, warehouse, and managers is clear, timely, and effective
- Ability to multitask while ensuring all service freight is loaded and dispatched in a timely manner
- Great knowledge of GTA and surrounding areas
- Ensures all outbound loads depart on time and full, as per network schedule
- Drives revenue growth through accessorial/cubing/reweigh-related activities
- Manages staffing and equipment levels that align with volumes and budget
- Provides accurate daily reporting of KPIs, routing efficiency, delays, and dock activities
- Monitors dock processes frequently to ensure quality and compliance
- Ensures all dock resources are available, functional, and in good working order
- Collaborates with dispatch, supervisors, and managers in continuous improvement initiatives
- Complies with all corporate policies and procedures
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- Minimum 2 to 7 years of combined experience in Dispatching, Routing, and Dock Supervision
- Strong understanding of LTL freight operations
- High level of energy, leadership, and willingness to learn
- College or University Degree preferred
- Routemax, TMW, Isaac, or similar systems experience is an asset
- Ability to handle fast-paced, high-volume dock operations
Education:
- Post-secondary education or equivalent preferred
