Role Description The Dispatcher is a full-time, on-site role based in Georgetown, ON. This position is responsible for coordinating daily truck dispatch activities, including assigning drivers and equipment, scheduling pickups and deliveries, and monitoring load progress to ensure on-time service. The Dispatcher communicates with drivers, customers, and internal teams to provide updates, resolve issues, and adjust plans in response to changing conditions. Day-to-day tasks include managing dispatch software and documentation, tracking equipment availability, optimizing routes, and verifying compliance with company policies and relevant regulations. The role also involves supporting safety and service standards, reporting exceptions or delays, and contributing to continuous improvement in fleet efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Strong dispatch and logistics coordination skills, with experience in scheduling, route planning, and load management.
- Proficiency with dispatch or transportation management software, basic computer skills, and accurate data entry.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with drivers, customers, and internal teams.
- Solid organizational and time-management abilities, including multitasking and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of transportation regulations, safety practices, and industry terminology is an asset.
- Previous experience in trucking, logistics, or fleet operations preferred; on-site dispatch experience in a similar setting is beneficial.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in logistics, transportation, or business is an advantage.
- Ability to work full time on-site in Georgetown, ON, with a reliable work ethic and commitment to customer service.
