Dispatcher Day Shift Jobs in Abbotsford at Valley Carriers Ltd
We’re currently looking for a great dispatcher to join our team!
As a member of Valley Carriers Operations Team, the dispatcher fulfills the role of Planning & Resource Manager to assist and advise the Operations team with the daily schedules for Trucks in order to facilitate the servicing of various mills and completing customer deliveries in a timely fashion. The Planning & Resource Manager will be responsible for sales order execution, resource utilization and efficiency, and driver retention. Emphasis is on having excellent communication skills and to being customer service oriented, along with the ability to multi-task, problem solve, and have a big picture thought process.
Primary Duties:
Reports To: General Manager . Works With: A/R Manager, Accounts Payable, Maintenance Staff, Drivers.
Configure and Operate:
Radios
Dispatching software
Various spread sheets and state boards as directed by the Operations Manager,
Dispatch Trucks as scheduled and ensure the timely hauling of product from various Mills, prioritizing the hauls as per Valley Carrier’s needs.
Prepare the daily Dispatch emails and have them sent in a timely matter
Respond to Customers’ requirements, keeping them updated when it comes to arrival times for their orders.
Understand Hours of service, Permits, and Border crossing paperwork/eManifests as required
Utilize teamwork in order to achieve goals set forth for the Operations Division
Keep updated the daily fault log.
Education, Training and Certification:
Highschool and some post-secondary education
Military, Police or First Responder experience would be an asset
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook
Work Experience:
Truck Driving
Previous Dispatch experience
Abilities and/or Personal Attributes:
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to follow direction, ask questions, and complete assigned tasks on time
Ability to Multitask while maintaining a strong attention to detail
Positive attitude with the ability to Flexible, Proactive, Reliable, and Enthusiastic
Work is performed in a primarily indoor setting, in an office of up to ten other persons
