Job Title: Dishwasher/Kitchen prep

Reports to: Chef/Sous-Chef

Position Summary

The dishwasher’s primary responsibility is to clean all items that are used in the cooking, presentation and service of food in a safe and sanitary manner while under supervision of the cooks, Sous Chefs and Executive Chef and the general cleaning of the kitchen. Their secondary function in the kitchen is to help the cooks in the food preparation and any other related duty that is designated by the Executive Chef or the Sous Chef

Key Responsibilities

Clean all items and surfaces within the specifications and standards of HACCP, food safe and the company. Specific cleaning duties are as follows ,all flatware, dishes, chafing dishes, pans, pots, inserts, salad bar items, service cutlery, roasting pans, floor cleaning (in kitchen, coolers, dishwashing area, storeroom, kitchen office, freezer and loading dock) washing kitchen walls, pot sink area, storage shelves, and the general cleanliness of the dishwashing machine.

Secondary responsibilities are to ensure that all cleaned flatware, dishes and all other items are put in their proper place in the kitchen or in the servery.

Be helpful and courteous to the guests and your fellow staff members.

Kitchen prep duties you may be asked to do by your supervisor are the following, peeling vegetables, peeling fruit, making salads, making sandwiches, traying cookies/muffins, slicing cold cuts/cheese to name only a few. You will be given direction on how to do these jobs in a safe and sanitary manor

Education Qualifications and Experience

Cook’s training in a secondary or post-secondary accredited institution preferred

Minimum of 1 year of work in a professional kitchen environment preferred

Food safe level 1 mandatory

Strong team player.

Basic communication skills(read, write, speak and understand English)

Ability to lift 50lb.

Ability to stand long periods of time and to move around at a brisk pace.

Working knowledge of institutional dishwasher and standard kitchen equipment preferred

Grade 12 or GED preferred

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Salary: From $18.00 per hour
