The Women’s Care program serves as a regional referral centre providing specialized Obstetric and Gynecologic care to women in southwestern Ontario. The Women’s Care Program offers a full range of clinical programs, services, and innovative programs including an expanded Midwifery Care Model, Pregnancy Options Program and Nurse run continence clinic.. London Health Sciences Centre is also a major centre for medical research, serves as a teaching hospital for physicians, nurses and other health professionals, and has an active continuing medical education program. The Women’s Care Program believes that families are critical partners in a person’s care and is committed to providing family-centred care.
The Medical Genetics Program of Southwestern Ontario provides comprehensive Genetic services for all ages. Specialties include Cancer, prenatal, metabolic, cardiac, pediatrics.
Job Summary
What the Role is
The role of the Director is to provide operational oversight for the Obstetrical Care Unit, inpatient Gynecology Unit, OB/Gyne ambulatory areas, the medical genetics program and the expanded midwifery program. Ensuring financial and operational decisions are data driven and aligned with the organization’s shared objectives. The Director provides: mentorship and coaching for both formal and informal leaders; fosters connections within the community to better serve those who seek our care. Works with regional partners to improve women’s health and be tapped into trends and needs as it relates to women’s health, genetics and birthing.
Reporting to the Vice President, Children’s Hospital, Women’s Care, Quality, Risk, and Pharmacy , the Director, Women’s and Children’s – OBCU, Women’s Care Inpatient and Outpatient Services, EMCM & Genetics will translate decisions of our senior level into execution by utilizing systems thinking strategic planning and relationship management by developing purposeful coalitions with internal and external partners. This position requires someone with a proven track record for leading and driving systems transformation through encouraging and supporting innovation and championing and orchestrating change, developing and sustaining healthy work environments and effective teams while leading in a performance-driven culture. You will organize program activities, direct resources, execute operational initiatives, formulate policies & procedures, and strategically plan for the future.
You will demonstrate strong business acumen including management of multi-million dollar operating and capital budgets. This leader will have exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills that contribute to identifying problems and issues, evaluating the interdependence of decisions, questioning and challenging the status quo, and designing and implementing processes for improvement.

NOTE: this role is required to be on-call, evenings and weekends on a rotational basis

What You Will Bring with You
- Successful completion of a recognized Master’s Degree in a health profession or business preferred*
- Current Certificate of Registration from a college recognized under the Regulated Health Professions Act
- Experience in quality improvement, patient safety, and change management is an asset
- Minimum of 5 years’ leadership experience, preferably in progressively more responsible leadership position(s)
- Minimum 5 years previously related demonstrated experience and understanding in a healthcare-related discipline, preferably in Women’s care, Obstetric and Gynecologic care
- Previous leadership in Women’s Care department is an asset
- Fluent and computer literate with computer systems such as email and Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
