A critical part in any healthcare journey is using technology such as diagnostic imaging to identify health issues. Diagnostic Imaging Alberta (DIA), a provincial program within Acute Care Alberta is now seeking an influential and analytical leader for the role of Director, Standards, Performance, & Reporting (Director). As the Director, Standards, Performance, & Reporting, you will play a key senior leadership role and be responsible for the oversight of provincial diagnostic imaging standards, system performance measurement, and enterprise reporting across publicly delivered and contracted diagnostic imaging services in Alberta, monitoring and ensuring high quality, accessible, and sustainable care. In this role, you will provide expertise and achieve outcomes through matrixed and shared DIA resources and collaborate closely with clinical leaders, analytics teams, operational partners, government stakeholders, and external service providers. As this role is provincial in scope, this position’s location is negotiable and eligible for a remote/hybrid work arrangement within Alberta. Acute Care Alberta (ACA) is a new provincial health agency in Alberta that provides active, short-term care services for patients who have a severe injury, illness, urgent medical condition, or are recovering from surgery. Delivering health care and overseeing health operations at hospitals and urgent care centres, Acute Care Alberta ensures that every Albertan receives the care they need as soon as they need it.
Description:
The Director, Diagnostic Imaging Standards, Performance & Reporting (Director) provides strategic leadership and expert oversight for provincial diagnostic imaging standards, system performance measurement, and enterprise reporting across publicly delivered and contracted diagnostic imaging services in Alberta. Reporting to the Senior Lead, the Director is accountable for the design, implementation, and stewardship of provincial diagnostic imaging performance frameworks, standardized indicators, reporting requirements, and data governance structures that support timely access, quality, safety, and system sustainability. This includes establishing province‑wide standards for performance & performance measurement, utilization reporting, risk management, quality assurance, and oversight of both public Health Services Providers and contracted Diagnostic Imaging providers. The Director is responsible and accountable for a provincial budget of approximately $250 million annually in contracted diagnostic imaging expenditures, and contributes directly to government‑facing, executive, and public reporting with material, reputational, and system impact. In this role, the Director collaborates with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and service providers, navigating complex and politically sensitive environments, balancing clinical, operational, and financial considerations, and leading system‑level improvements through evidence‑based analysis, performance intelligence, and strategic influence.

Required Qualifications:
Requires a master’s degree in Health Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, Analytics, Health Economics, or a healthcare or related field (or equivalent combinations of education & experience). Professional designation or advanced training in diagnostic imaging / medical imaging, healthcare quality, performance measurement, data analytics, or health system management is preferred. Must demonstrate progressive senior-level experience in healthcare system performance, reporting, analytics, or standards development within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment. A combination of qualifications and experience may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Strong understanding of healthcare funding, utilization management, and performance oversight. Demonstrated expertise in performance measurement, dashboarding, reporting governance, and translating data into executive-level insight. Experience working across organizational boundaries, including government, health authorities, clinicians, and external providers. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including government- and executive-facing reporting. Proven ability to influence and lead without direct authority in politically sensitive environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with provincial or system-level diagnostic imaging, surgical, or hospital services, and overseeing or supporting healthcare system or contracted server performance oversight. Advanced skills in performance visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and data governance practices.
