Role Overview
The Director of Strategy and Marketing owns how The Embody Lab grows: the revenue-growth strategy and the plan behind it. The role sets the direction, defines the priorities and the experiments, and carries the revenue number, while the Head of Marketing implements the plan in market. It reports directly to the founder and sits as a peer to the Director of Operations.
The primary focus of the role is strategy and revenue ownership: deciding where growth comes from and directing the function that delivers it. Revenue growth here means expanding awareness, building partnerships, and growing the top line.
Engagement Terms
This is a full-time engagement structured as an annual independent contractor relationship, on a twelve-month term, renewable by mutual agreement. The position is fully remote and full time, and represents the contractor's primary professional focus during the term.
What This Role Owns
Revenue-growth strategy
• Own the revenue-growth strategy and the plan that delivers it
• Read the market, find the opening, and turn it into a direction the team can run.
Positioning, packaging, and pricing
• Own positioning, packaging, and pricing direction across the program portfolio.
• Set the message-market fit for the trauma, somatic, and healing audience, with accuracy and care.
The experimentation and growth roadmap
• Define the experimentation roadmap: the bets worth making, and the order to make them in.
• Set the priorities and the success measures the Head of Marketing tests against.
Partnerships and new revenue lines
• Identify and open new revenue lines, channels, and partnerships.
• Build the senior relationships that carry new growth.
Direction of the marketing function
• Set the direction the Head of Marketing implements, and define what success means
• Lead strategy reviews with the founder, and translate company goals into the marketing roadmap.
• Align marketing direction so growth stays matched to delivery capacity.
Qualifications
• A record of owning growth strategy and revenue results at a scaling organization.
• Command of positioning, packaging, and pricing, with the judgment to set direction
• The ability to design an experimentation roadmap and read results with discipline.
• Experience opening partnerships and new revenue lines.
• Comfort directing an execution team while still working the day-to-day
• Canada-based and eligible to work as an independent contractor
• A sincere regard for the work in the fields of trauma, the body, and healing
