Summary/Objective
The purpose of the Director of Operations role is to execute strategic goals and direction by leading, directing, and managing the trucking and HUB operations to ensure staff and all team members are empowered and motivated to execute and deliver the company’s strategic objectives. The position is responsible for a consistent high level of service quality, customer satisfaction, revenue growth, profitability and cost efficient operations.
Essential Functions

  • Review financial statements and data. Utilize financial data to improve profitability. Prepare and control operational budgets. Assist Director of Finance in planning effective strategies for the financial well being of the company. Reviews and approves adequate plans for the control of planned outputs, budget spending, labor efficiency, equipment efficiency, customer service, regulatory compliance, and overall operational efficiency.
  • Establish organizational structures. Delegate tasks and accountability. Reviews performance against operating plans and standards. Provides reports to subordinates on interpretation of results and approves changes in direction of plans. Provides orientation and on-the-job training for subordinates and ensures that the authority and responsibility defined and understood.
  • Coordinate and monitor the work of various departments involved in warehousing, pricing and distribution of goods. Monitor performance and implement improvements. Manage quality and quantity of employee productivity. Assist Director of maintenance of equipment and machinery. Provide technical support where necessary.
  • Manage customer support. Plan and support sales and marketing activities. Drive accountability for improvement and positive change based upon business objectives and desire to grow our customer base.
  • Assist in the development of strategic plans for operational activity. Implement and manage operational plans. Develop business goals and action plan to promote profitable growth. Facilitate actions to improve performance and drive business transformation. Evaluate overall operations and develop short-and-long term goals to meet organizational objectives. Oversee all warehousing and transportation operations to ensure the highest standard of quality.

Work Environment
This position operates in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
Sedentary role, sitting at workstation while carrying out a variety of both manual and computerized data entry and processing. Occasional standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching/crawling.
Travel
25% travel is expected for this position.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time exempt position, Monday through Friday 8:00am — 5:00pm. This position reports to the President and has supervisory responsibilities.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position will supervise operations specialist, operational managers, and dispatchers. Work department directors to ensure company standards are developed and followed with all areas of service and with all departments.

Required Education and Experience

  • 4-year degree in business administration, commerce, management, industrial technology or industry relevant production experience
  • Prior leadership experience in a relevant field.
  • Sound administrative skills, well-developed management skills—principles and people.
  • Knowledge and experience in organizational effectiveness and operations management.
  • Information technology skills
