GlassRatner’s Executive Search practice is partnering with a rapidly growing industrial manufacturing company that supplies the automotive construction sector in the search for their next Director of Materials. This is a recognized innovative and dynamic organization who constantly evolve their products, bringing exciting solutions to the Tier 1 and Tier 2 automotive manufacturers.
As Director of Materials, you will serve as a key member of the leadership team, working closely with the COO to oversee and optimize the full supply chain—freight, warehousing, planning, inventory control, and logistics—to drive efficiency and ensure on‑time, cost‑effective delivery across North America.
You will be expected to quickly build credibility with both executive leadership and operational teams, using a data‑driven, analytical approach to influence change and implement improvements. Metrics and performance data will guide your recommendations for new products, systems, policies, and processes within the broader supply chain ecosystem.
As a leader, you will mentor and develop a dispersed team, manage vendor relationships, align material flow with production schedules to control cost, uphold safety compliance, and collaborate cross‑functionally with plant materials, logistics, operations, and finance. To be successful in this, you will possess the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, business management, or a related field
- Previous leadership experience in strategic planning, materials, manufacturing, purchasing, supply chain management, and logistics
- Knowledge of total quality management (TQM) and continuous improvement; lean manufacturing experience is an asset
- Demonstrated success working with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers in a complex, competitive automotive market
- Proven ability to lead within a matrixed organization, build strong relationships, and influence outcomes across functions
- Strong analytical, critical‑thinking, curious and change‑leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
This role offers the opportunity for a strategic, data‑focused materials and logistics leader to work directly with the COO and influence the direction of a fast‑growing organization. The position is based in Southern Ontario, Canada.
