Reporting to the Executive Director, Professional Practice, Nursing and Clinical Informatics, the Director, Nursing and Interprofessional Practice provides strategic leadership and expert advice on Nursing professional practice matters and plays an integral role in supporting the delivery of quality practice environments. The Director leads and supports the planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and ongoing monitoring of strategic resource planning in order to achieve clinical and professional growth while optimizing professional practice priorities, advanced practice, quality practice environments, and fostering sustainability in order to deliver on organizational initiatives.
The Director advances Nursing workforce and organizational initiatives such as the Model of care framework and person and family-centred care. Provides leadership and expert advice on scope of practice, skill mix, and care delivery approaches through inter-professional collaborative practice.
The Director is also accountable for the leadership, implementation, and monitoring of quality improvement initiatives related to Nursing professional practice and inter-professional practice (regulated and unregulated). Leads the development, implementation, evaluation, and ongoing monitoring and championing of operational and/or professional clinical standards, procedures, guidelines and policies for the Nursing workforce. Develops and sustains discipline specific and inter-professional professional practice communities across the organization.
Promotes and builds linkages, alliances and collaborative relations with internal and external contacts and partners. Represents PHC on appropriate committees and advisory groups (e.g. health authority, provincial, ministry meetings).
Qualifications / Skills and Education
Education, Training and Experience
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master’s Degree in Nursing plus seven (7) to ten (10) year’s recent, related experience in a senior management or leadership position within a large, academic, health care environment responsible for professional practice, education and research.
Current practicing registration in good standing as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
