What we are hiring for:
We are currently a full-time Direct Support Professional to join the individualized support team of a young man transitioning into adult services. He has graduated from high school and is looking forward to finding a home of his own where he will have 1:1 supports and can explore a variety of opportunities to be active each day; including relationship building in his community, learning new skills and possibly employment.
Direct Support Professionals make a difference in people’s lives by:
Providing support to people with developmental disabilities in their homes and the community
Teaching and assisting with daily supports (ex. assistance with meal preparation, personal hygiene, medication administration, appointments, housekeeping responsibilities and money management)
Facilitating opportunities for individual skill development, independence, personal growth, cultivating relationships in their community and leisure activities as directed by the person
We provide supports in: Alvinston, Brigden, Corunna, Forest, Petrolia, Sarnia, Oil City, Oil Springs, Watford and Wyoming.
What you will need:
Valid “G or G2” class license and reliable vehicle
Be willing to provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check
Be legally entitled to work in Canada
Current certification in First Aid/CPR required
Current certification in NVCPI or willing to obtain
Experience working with people with developmental disabilities is an asset
Adaptable to varying support needs
Mental Health First Aid & Trauma Informed Care
Knowledge and experience supporting people with mental health/illness, developing healthy relationships and boundaries, exploring their community and learning new things
Flexibility to adjust work hours according to support needs; evenings and weekends required
Compensation and scheduling:
$22.27 – $22.93 per hour based on experience
Full-time – 40 hours per week including days, afternoons, weekends or nights
Scheduled a mixture of days, afternoons, and weekends
