Desktop Support Technician

Nor-Tec Group is a full service electrical contractor. We have been servicing Winnipeg and the far reaches of most of Manitoba for over 35 years. Our experience has been from Institutional projects to Industrial projects to Municipal projects and a variety of Manufacturing Plant projects. We are well versed in servicing all of the electrical needs for a wide variety of clients.

Nor-Tec Group is currently looking for an individual to help with the day to day administration and support of desktop and server infrastructures, the cloud, and related systems. The incumbent will work independently and collaboratively with the Information Systems Specialist to provide support to various functions in a shared office and multi-site environment. This is an entry level position.

Responsibilities of this position would include:

Providing tier 1 level IT support to end users, being the first point of contact for hardware, software support to workstations, laptops, tablets, printers, desk and office phones, remote connectivity.
Helping to ensure IT documentation is up to date and accurate.
Help with various IT projects, research and initiatives including 3rd party deployments.
Help it IT purchasing of equipment, hardware, software and licenses.
Help support Microsoft Office / 365 suite products, Sharepoint, OneDrive, Teams, Exchange.
Other duties as assigned.

Currently looking for an individual that possess the following skills and education:

Currently enrolled in, or graduated in a Information Technology related program from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Solid understanding of electronic equipment, Internet applications and security fundamentals.
Ability to provide, handle, and store confidential information.
Proven ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to prioritize and multi-task while maintaining attention to detail. This includes responding to questions during frequent interruptions.
Ability to build and maintain good customer relations.
Excellent knowledge of industry products, practices and standards.
Experience in working with Microsoft Office 365 applications (Microsoft Teams, Planner, Excel, Word, etc).
Excellent ability to think critically and problem solve.
Effective communication skills verbal and written.

Assets for this position would be:

1+ years of experience in call center environment and/or technical support role is an asset.
1+ years of experience with networking, ticketing systems, surveillance systems, IT/ICT systems is an asset.

Conditions of Employment:

Candidate has Canadian citizenship or has a valid work permit.
Must be able to pass a security and/or background check.
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
Must be able to type 30 wpm.
Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift, and carry for long periods of time.
Must have valid Class 5 drivers license and use of a personal motor vehicle for travel to jobsites.
