Queens Association for Supported Living (QASL) is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to providing choices and opportunities to adults with disabilities. Our mission is to empower individuals to live fulfilling lives through person-directed planning, advocacy and support as they reach for their dreams and make decisions about their own lives.
Reporting to the Vocational Manager, Program Instructors provide direct support to people with disabilities according to their personal support needs and desired outcomes; and in accordance with the philosophy, mission, and policies and procedures of QASL. Help people build a good life in community by facilitating programs that provide recreational, employment training, skill building and social connections!
The Ideal Candidate would possess the following Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Disability Supports or related field
- Core Competency Certifications
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities
- Detail-oriented team player
- Ability to work alone as well as in a team environment
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the capacity to build relationships with clients, families, coworkers and community partners
- Sense of humour
- Flexibility with scheduling
- Willingness to explore new opportunities
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Specific vocational/employment training skills and experience
- Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety practices
- Class 5 NS drivers license
- Clean Vulnerable Sector check and driver’s abstract
