What is the opportunity?

The Data Systems Analyst in Data Intelligence plays a pivotal role in advancing data governance initiatives by aligning them with the organization’s long-term goals. They are responsible for lineage discovery of critical data elements, essential for impact analysis and regulatory reporting. A key aspect of this role is motivating the team to uphold high standards and adopt the data governance framework.

The Data Systems Analyst also excels at articulating complex data governance concepts to diverse stakeholders, ensuring both technical teams and business users understand and embrace these principles. This ability to bridge communication gaps is vital for fostering a cohesive approach to data governance across the enterprise.

What will you do?

  • Enable a collaborative environment where we work with diverse teams solving hard problems in data lineage. Develop win-win relationships with stakeholders across the Enterprise.

  • Ability to analyze complex architectures, locate critical data and report its flow through Canada’s leading bank, and develop effective software solutions to automate the lineage process.

  • Show technical leadership in python or java, by living and breathing best practices and by using simple solutions to solve complex problems.

  • Advise and mentor fellow developers as well as lead by example. Follow and enforce local and global practices, always prioritizing high quality and timely deliveries.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 3+ years’ experience in Python, especially in data manipulation, automation and analytics

  • Prior experience in Java for developing custom data processing solutions and integrations.

  • Shell Scripting:
    Advanced shell scripting skills for automating administrative tasks and data processes.

  • An understanding of both relational (SQL Server, Oracle) and non-relational databases (No

    SQL, Mongo

    DB). Advanced SQL Proficiency:
    Ability to write complex SQL queries, optimize performance, and manage large-scale data operations.

  • Data Integration Design:
    Calling vendor API, Rest APIs.

  • Strong knowledge of parsing/parsers, parsing algorithms, and data structures.

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience

Nice-to-have

  • Managing Metadata Repositories:
    Experience with setting up and managing metadata repositories.
