About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our Platform team, specifically within the Data Infrastructure product area. This role is vital in building and maintaining scalable data processing systems that support Spotify’s core services and innovative AI initiatives. As part of this team, you will work on developing large-scale batch and real-time data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform, enhancing developer experience, and standardizing workflows across the organization. Your contributions will directly impact the quality, performance, and scalability of Spotify’s data ecosystem, enabling teams to analyze and leverage data effectively for personalized experiences like Discover Weekly and Wrapped. Collaboration with cross-functional squads and product owners will be essential as you help evolve our data platform to meet the growing demands of our global user base and emerging AI technologies.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering or related fields
  • Proficiency in building and maintaining data pipelines using modern programming languages
  • Strong understanding of systems design, data structures, and scalable architectures
  • Experience working with high-volume, heterogeneous datasets in distributed cloud environments
  • Hands-on experience with Python or JVM-based data processing frameworks such as Spark, Flink, or Dataflow
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms, particularly Google Cloud Platform
  • Demonstrated commitment to best engineering practices including continuous delivery, testing, and maintainability
  • Interest in emerging technologies like AI and agent-based systems and their application in data workflows

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize large-scale batch and real-time data processing systems on Google Cloud Platform
  • Collaborate with product owners, engineers, and cross-functional teams to deliver impactful data features and solutions
  • Expand and evolve Spotify’s data processing platform to accommodate business growth and technological advancements
  • Enhance developer experience by driving best practices, tooling, and standardization across the data ecosystem
  • Contribute to the development of a unified data platform, including initiatives towards a data monorepo
  • Support the development of systems that enable AI agents to interact effectively with data infrastructure
  • Maintain high standards of code quality through testing, documentation, and continuous integration
  • Stay updated on emerging data technologies and propose innovative solutions to improve workflows
