About The Role
The Data and AI Engineer role at Sanofi is a vital position within the Data Engineering department, focusing on developing, optimizing, and maintaining data pipelines that support the company's advanced analytics, AI, and ML initiatives. As a junior Data Engineer, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate these into scalable technical solutions. Your work will involve gathering and organizing large, complex datasets, ensuring high data quality, and implementing data models that facilitate efficient data access and analysis. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to Sanofi’s digital transformation efforts by leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as data warehousing, integration services, scripting languages, and visualization tools. You will be responsible for optimizing query performance, maintaining data governance standards, and supporting the continuous improvement of data processes across the organization. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a relevant field
- 1-2 years of experience in data engineering or related roles
- Strong knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts
- Familiarity with data modeling and query optimization techniques
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and agile methodologies
- Good understanding of data governance, security, and quality standards
- Technical intuition and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred qualifications include familiarity with data warehousing solutions such as Snowflake, integration tools like Informatica IICS or DBT, scripting languages such as Python or R, source code management tools like GitHub, visualization platforms like PowerBI or Tableau, and project management tools such as JIRA and Confluence. Experience in the life sciences or pharmaceutical industry is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business teams to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Gather, organize, and analyze large and complex datasets to support business needs
- Ensure data quality through validation and coordination with Data Analysts and Data Scientists
- Design, develop, and optimize data models and pipelines to facilitate efficient data access and analysis
- Create and maintain scalable data pipelines using existing standards or by developing new ones
- Optimize query performance and ensure best practices in data manipulation and processing
- Communicate findings and insights effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Partner with Product Owners and Data Analysts to prioritize data pipeline development and enhancements
- Contribute to data governance initiatives and adhere to company standards and industry best practices
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve data infrastructure
