Position Summary:

Support the new Third party (Encompass) program for Fisher Canada by coordinating and reviewing new items for customs. Responsible for ensuring compliance with customs regulations. The role requires a deep understanding of the import regulations, tariff classifications and customs procedures. The Compliance Specialist will play a crucial role in minimizing risks, optimizing customs processes, and ensuring

legal compliance

for Thermo Fisher Scientific.

In addition, support the Third-Party Manager with daily requests and program development.

Key Responsibilities:

Staying

up-to-date

with customs laws, regulations and procedures to ensure compliance.

Determine the correct tariff classification for imported goods by researching and interpreting tariff schedules, customs rulings, GIR (General Interpretive Rules), explanatory notes, D-memorandum, and trade agreements.

Maintain new classification database (RTB).

Apply PGA (Participating Government Agencies) coding to all new Third-Party products.

Ensure compliance with all third-Party Suppliers regarding Incoterms and other pertinent customs related information.

Maintain country of origin in Fisher Master File.

Conduct weekly, monthly, and quarterly audits.

Manage PIP (Partners in Protection) process for all suppliers.

Collaboration

with Canadian Customs team and other

cross-functional teams

to optimize the trade compliance program.

Identify potential risks and mitigate them through effective customs procedures and documentation.

Conduct risk assessments to identify areas of vulnerability and create internal customs audits as required.

Minimum Requirements

/

Qualifications:

2 years Customs Administration diploma from a Community College preferred.

3-5 years’ experience in a Customs Related field preferred.

Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) is preferred.

Certified Trade Compliance Specialist (CTCS) Designation is an asset.

In-depth knowledge of customs regulations, import procedures, and tariff classification.

Strong

analytical skills

with

attention to detail

to ensure accurate customs declarations.

Excellent communications and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Ability to

adapt quickly to changing regulations and work effectively in a

fast-paced environment

.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Teams, Excel, Outlook, Word, Power point)
