Qikiqtaaluk Corporation seeks an experienced Corporate Controller with a thorough knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises and financial policies, procedures and directives. As a key member of the finance team, the incumbent will plan, direct and coordinate all accounting operational functions of the Corporation under the direction of the CFO.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions;
  • Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results;
  • Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements;
  • Coordinating activities of external auditors;
  • Providing management with timely information vital to the decision-making process;
  • Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement to CFO and implementing new processes, as required;
  • Evaluating accounting and internal control systems, offering recommendations for improvement to CFO and updating controls, as required;
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, offering recommendations for improvement to CFO and updating, as required;
  • Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance;
  • Hiring, training, overseeing, and retaining skilled accounting staff; and
  • Managing outsourced finance and accounting services.

Qualifications and Skills required:

  • 10 years’ experience in Accounting Role and 3 years’ experience as Controller;
  • MBA in Finance or Accounting or CPA is required;
  • Excellent people skills, with experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team;
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management and accounting, ideally in the for-profit sector;
  • Experience should include legal, audit, compliance, budget, and resource development;
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Nunavut and Northern Canada is an asset;
  • Proven ability to work with demanding deadlines, independently and with a team;
  • Excellent organization skills and strong attention to details;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural environment;
  • Strong work ethic, sense of responsibility and confidentiality;
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks, likely with competing priorities.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From $175,000.00 per year
