Our highly valued construction/development client is looking for someone to join their growing team as the Corporate Accounting Manager! The organization works with investors to acquire brand new, high-quality and cash flowing investment properties as well as building affordable housing projects across BC and Alberta by partnering with non-profit organizations, municipalities and government housing agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for the group entities
  • Prepare tax returns and tax working papers
  • Prepare weekly corporate cash flow
  • Assist in the preparation of tax planning deliverables (3 Year Forecast, Quarterly Forecast, Tax Losses Carry forward Chart)
  • Assist in preparation and tracking of corporate budget and overhead expenses
  • Assist in preparation of insurance applications
  • Prepare monthly asset management packages including but not limited to Budget vs. Actual, Cash Flow and Annual Operating Budget
  • Assist in preparation of investor updates for properties under rental management
  • Manage preparation of real estate reporting requirements (Annual lender and CMHC reporting, Empty Homes Tax, Speculation & Vacancy Tax)
  • Assist VP Finance in the design and implementation of policies, practices, procedures and systems which result in efficient operations and good internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, as well as statutory, tax filing and bonding requirements
  • Register GST and corporate tax accounts for newly setup entities
  • Assist in the windup, dissolution or amalgamation of group entities
  • Handle special projects, responsibilities and other duties as assigned by the VP Finance

Qualifications

  • CPA with 3 to 5 years of experience in the construction/real estate development industry
  • Skilled in preparing and reviewing financial statements, tax filings, payroll and cash flow forecasts
  • Confident working with ERP and accounting software;
    Sage 300 ERP is an asset
  • Proactive in identifying financial risks and creating solutions to mitigate them
  • Detail-oriented and thorough in ensuring compliance with internal controls, statutory requirements and tax regulations
  • Strong communicator who thrives in dynamic environments and contributes to positive company culture
  • Passionate about streamlining processes, improving efficiency and strengthening financial operations
  • Strong attention to details with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good time management, work well under pressure and able to meet multiple deadlines
