The Marconi Multicultural Event Centre is searching for an experienced cook with banquet, and culinary experience. You will assist our Executive Chef to prepare food for a variety of formats, including takeout, lunch and dinner buffets, and special events. If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.

As a successful candidate, you will receive a competitive hourly wage with bi-weekly gratuity, with regular evaluations providing the opportunity for pay increases.

Responsibilities:

– Preparation of high quality food for various events and areas at The Marconi

· Assist with menu planning

· Adhering to prep lists and schedules

· Maintaining food costs and inventory levels

· Maintain and ensure compliance with standards for food storage, rotation, quality, and appearance

· Ensure 100% compliance with all applicable health and safety codes and regulations

· Establish cleaning procedures and schedules for work areas, equipment, and storage.

· Assume leadership role in kitchen when the Executive Chef is away.

Qualifications:

· Demonstrated knowledge of culinary techniques and practices

· Abiilty to work in a high-stress, time-sensitive kitchen

· Strong and conscientious leadership skills

· Understanding of health, safety, and sanitation codes and best practices

· Excellent knife-handling skills

· Basic computer skills and experience with office software

Education/Experience

· High School Diploma or GED equivalency

· Previous Kitchen Management Experience preferred

· 3 years of High Volume Kitchen Experience preferred
