DescriptionA prominent services company is looking to grow its team by hiring a Controller through Robert Half. In this leadership role, you will manage an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, handles the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluates accounting and internal control systems, and leads departmental staff. How you will make an impact
Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Assure client expectations are met by reviewing deliverables of self and team
Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Complete tasks beyond formal job responsibilities
Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly
Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed
Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports
Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Requirements
Demonstrated analytical abilities, tendency to quickly connect dots and surmise logical outcomes
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity
Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued
Ability to effectively interact, verbally and in writing
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Cash flow management experience highly valued
Balance sheets experience highly preferred
Prior experience with Financial Control
Hands-on experience with Corporate Tax Compliance
Foundational knowledge in budget forecasting
CPA experience desired
Earlier work involving Income Statements
Comprehension of Capital Management
Knowledge of financial auditing
Foundational knowledge in month end closings
Adeptness in cost accounting
Maintenance planning and control experience
