Role Description

We’re looking for a full time Continuous Improvement Lead to drive menu innovation and operational resource development. Reporting to the Director, Strategic Sourcing, this role will provide insight and direction for culinary development, operational resources and communication with Franchise Teams. You’ll spend about half your time in our corporate location where you will execute the full product development process and identify and address gaps in other Operational processes.

The ideal candidate is a process driven, passionate Restaurant professional who excels at imparting their knowledge to others. You must have the ability to transform hands-on procedures into clear, concise written instructions. You will demonstrate an ability to balance creative problem solving with simplicity and operational efficiency.

Key Objectives

  • Operationalize and increase speed to market for new menu items & limited time offerings
  • Identify, organize and track items of interest; collaboratively prioritize for further testing/launch
  • Manage nutritional and allergen tables to ensure accurate information is always available to our customers and Restaurant Teams
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes & communication
  • Ensure resources provided to Franchise Teams are current, relevant & engaging
  • Develop new resources to increase consistency across all OPA! locations

Duties

Execute development of new menu items in our corporate location

  • Design new menu item testing
  • Document processes
  • Analyze and report on success of initial phase testing according to established metrics & provide recommendations on next steps
  • Create support materials for new item/LTO launch in wider-scale testing

Lead Culinary Committee:

  • Prepare & present potential new menu items for tasting by Culinary Committee
  • Identify potential new products for consideration 
  • Operationalize selected menu items for presentation to Culinary Committee
  • Prepare, position & present new menu item ideas at tasting sessions

 Create/Maintain Nutritional & Allergen Information Tables

  • For new menu items, create nutritional tables & identify allergens; produce separate tables for different markets as required
  • Update existing nutritional/allergen information as needed
  • Liaise with Marketing Department to keep information updated & nutritional calculator accurate
  • Review, recommend & implement revisions of Operations resources to ensure accuracy, relevance and ease of use 
  • Lead in-house creation of video training library for use by our Franchise Teams to improve consistency of product preparation & presentation
  • Liaise with Franchise Teams to identify opportunities to improve engagement & enrich content within our Franchise Communication platform
  • Assist with other projects or responsibilities as required by Director, Strategic Sourcing

Skills & Qualifications

  • 3 – 5 years experience in a restaurant kitchen environment (leadership position preferred)
  • At least 1 year experience training new team members on food preparation procedures
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills

Preferred Skills

  • Diploma or certificate with Culinary focus
