Are you an experienced Finisher who is looking for an opportunity to join a growing company with diverse areas of work? JW Curb is seeking to add an experienced Lead Concrete Finisher to help expand our exterior concrete crew. This opportunity is perfect for someone with an established concrete skillset who is also looking for a broader range of skills to develop in other aspects of construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Finishing Exterior Flatwork: Manage placement and finishing operations on sidewalks and small to mid-sized exterior slabs.
- Formwork/Rebar: Assist with all aspects of form fabrication, setting, and rebar placement.
- Layout: Assist with layout tasks, experience with a laser is a plus!
- Jobsite Organization: Assist team with managing an organized and professional jobsite including materials, traffic control, and debris cleanup.
- Operate Equipment: Experience operating loaders, backhoes, and excavators is a plus!
- CDL A: Candidates with a valid CDL A will have the opportunity for additional compensation.
- Job Cost and Logging: Assist JW Curb field management with daily hours and material usage logging.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Proven experience as a flatwork finisher with DOT/Municipal concrete work preferred.
- Concrete Skills: Proficient in all aspects of placing and finishing from directing delivery trucks, screeding, floating, jointing, edging, surface texturing, early entry joint sawing, and maintaining all required curing treatment in any weather conditions. Able to speak with experience on admixtures to address weather and placement challenges.
- Formwork: Able to direct and instruct on all aspects of flatwork forming and familiar with forming of walls, footings, and other structural elements.
- Layout: Able to work directly with field engineers and superintendents on calculating and setting grades with minimal instruction. Conversant on topics of benchmarks, pitch, and basic layout geometry.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in all work performed.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions independently.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work well with others and build strong relationships with team members, clients, and vendors.
- Adaptability: Comfortable with multi-tasking in a dynamic industry
- Leadership: Demonstrated leadership qualities and the ability to motivate and guide others.
- Licenses: Valid driver’s license required, clean record required to drive company vehicles. CLD A and Massachusetts 1C/2A Hoisting License holders will be strongly preferred and compensated accordingly.
Compensation
- Competitive Pay: Starting at $28-32/hr based on experience and leadership potential. Prevailing wage projects are occasionally available.
