Reporting to the Coding Coordinator, the Coder (Health Information Administrator 1) assists in the presentation of statistical information and participates on organizational committees by providing advice regarding codes, classification, mapping and data collection. Your duties will include:
Process corrections for abstracts for data quality.
Maintain the computerized abstracting system.
Participate in continuous quality improvement activities.
Provide data related to specific projects and/or assignments as requested
Qualifications / Skills and Education:
Education:
Graduated from an approved Health Information Management Program.
Canadian College of Health Information Management (CHIM) Certified and current active membership with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA).
Skills & Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to code/abstract in the current CIHI and BC Ministry of Health standard classification system.
Demonstrated knowledge of computerized coding and abstracting systems.
Demonstrated knowledge of pathophysiology.
Excellent ability to communicate verbally and in writing, work effectively with others, and interpersonal skills
