BFL CANADA is looking for a Claims Counsel for its Edmonton Office!
The primary
purpose
of this position is to ensure our clients and client service teams in our Commercial, Construction and Specialty Insurance divisions receive “best in class”
advocacy
through the claims process to support BFL’s client intimate strategy.

YOUR DAY AS A CLAIMS COUNSELClaims
Advocacy
& Legal Advice Provide guidance and assistance to clients with all aspects of the claims management process including initial reporting through to final resolution and ensure prompt and fulsome
communication
with clients
Collaborate with client and client service teams to advocate for clients in support of their insurance claims
Provide internal legal advice to claims team and client service teams regarding coverage, policy wordings and other legal issues that arise
Monitor and communicate relevant legal developments and communicate to claims team and client service teams
Manage various lines of insurance claims with a focus on E&O liability, Directors’ & Officers’ liability, Employment Practices liability and commercial general liability.
Collaborate with claims team members, client service teams and/or clients to help develop value added, client-specific claims services
Develop internal and external educational materials to augment claims service
Client Service and Marketing Support Collaborate with client service teams’ marketing efforts to support client retention and acquisition
Develop claims presentations and documentation that supports
promotion
of “best in class” claims service
Represent our organization at client and industry events
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE JD required and member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta2-4 years’ legal experience including insurance (insurance coverage and and/or commercial law experience is an asset)
