Salary: $19.00 – $21 per hour (based on experience)

The Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Chinese / Asian Cook with strong expertise in Chinese and Asian cuisine. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with wok cooking, high-volume food production, and delivering consistent, high-quality dishes in a fast-paced retail kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation & Production

Prepare authentic Chinese and Asian dishes

Demonstrate strong wok cooking techniques, including heat control, timing, and seasoning

Ensure consistency in taste, quality, and presentation

Execute daily mise en place (“everything in its place”) and batch cooking for retail and hot food stations

Maintain freshness and quality across all prepared food displays
Menu Development & Innovation

Support development of new menu items and seasonal offerings

Assist in creating combo meals, family packs, and promotional items

Standardize recipes, portion sizes, and plating for consistency and cost control
-
Introduce innovative Indo-Chinese and Asian-inspired dishes based on customer trends
Kitchen Operations

Follow proper food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards

Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen, equipment, and workstations
-
Ensure proper food storage, labeling, and stock rotation (FIFO)

Assist with inventory control, ordering, and minimizing waste

Adhere to WHMIS and workplace safety guidelines
Team Support & Collaboration

Work closely with Sous Chef, Department Head, and kitchen team

Assist in training junior staff on cooking techniques and recipes

Maintain strong communication and teamwork during peak hours

Execute tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Customer Experience & Quality

Ensure food displays are appealing, fresh, and well-presented

Maintain high standards aligned with Fresh 50’s brand and quality expectations

Contribute to delivering an exceptional in-store food experience
Qualifications & Requirements
-
1–3 years of experience in Chinese / Asian cuisine

Strong knowledge of wok cooking and high-heat techniques
-
Experience in high-volume kitchen or food retail environment
-
Food Handler Certification (required or willingness to obtain)

Basic knife skills and understanding of professional cooking methods

Ability to work efficiently under pressure

Strong teamwork and communication skills
