Certified Welding Inspector Jobs in Irving, TX at Northstar Logix LLC
We are hiring an experienced Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join our growing structural steel and architectural metals team. This role is responsible for ensuring welding quality, code compliance, and fabrication standards across commercial and industrial steel projects.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of welding inspection procedures, structural steel fabrication, AWS standards, and quality control processes within a fast-paced fabrication environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform welding inspections for structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects
- Ensure compliance with AWS, AISC, project specifications, and quality standards
- Inspect welds, fit-up, materials, dimensions, and fabrication processes
- Review shop drawings, WPS/PQR documentation, and welding procedures
- Verify welder qualifications and maintain inspection records/documentation
- Conduct visual weld inspections and coordinate NDT testing when required
- Identify non-conformance issues and work with production teams on corrective actions
- Coordinate with project managers, fabricators, welders, and customers regarding quality requirements
- Maintain QC reports, inspection logs, and project documentation
- Support fabrication and field installation quality assurance efforts

Qualifications
- Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required
- 3+ years of welding inspection experience preferred
- Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication and welding processes
- Knowledge of AWS D1.1, AISC standards, and steel industry codes
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and welding symbols
- Experience with welding procedures, fit-up inspections, and dimensional inspections
- Familiarity with FCAW, MIG, TIG, and stick welding processes
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
- Good communication and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and inspection reporting
