Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Carpenter Shop Machine Operator to join our closet manufacturing team. This role is primarily responsible for operating shop machinery — including a CNC machine and edgebander — to cut and finish wood components, along with assembling closets and packing materials for installation. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with production equipment, has basic computer skills to run CNC software, and takes pride in producing high-quality work in a fast-paced shop environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate the CNC machine to cut wood panels and components according to specifications
- Run and monitor the CNC software
- Operate the edgebander to apply edge banding to panels
- Assemble closet components in the shop
- Pack and prepare finished materials for delivery
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machinery to ensure proper operation
- Inspect finished pieces for quality and accuracy, flagging any defects or errors
- Follow all safety protocols when operating machinery
- Maintain an organized and safe work area
Experience & Qualifications
- Prior experience operating CNC machinery preferred; woodworking or cabinet shop experience a plus
- Basic computer literacy required, with the ability to learn and run CNC software
- Experience with edgebanders or similar woodworking equipment preferred
- Ability to read and interpret cut lists, panel diagrams, or basic blueprints
- Comfortable with physical work, including lifting materials and standing for extended periods
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Pay: $18.00 – $20.00 per hour
