Job Overview
Huot Construction & Services, Inc. is seeking a skilled and versatile Carpenter / Construction Technician to join our growing team. This position is ideal for an experienced construction professional who can perform a wide range of commercial construction, renovation, repair, and finish work with minimal supervision.
The successful candidate will possess strong carpentry skills while also being comfortable performing light plumbing, electrical, drywall, tile, painting, window and door installation, and general construction tasks. Projects include multifamily, commercial, government, healthcare, correctional, and institutional facilities throughout Minnesota and the Upper Midwest.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Install commercial doors, frames, finish hardware, and specialty hardware.
- Install and repair windows, storefront systems, siding, and exterior building components.
- Perform finish carpentry including trim, millwork, cabinetry, and specialty finishes.
- Construct wood and metal stud framing, blocking, backing, partitions, and soffits.
- Install drywall, insulation, ceiling systems, and interior finishes.
- Install and repair ceramic tile, flooring, and wall finishes.
- Perform painting, caulking, patching, and punch-list work.
- Perform light plumbing repairs and fixture installations.
- Perform light electrical work including fixture replacement and device installation.
- Complete renovation, remodeling, repair, and tenant improvement projects.
- Perform demolition and selective demolition activities.
- Read and interpret plans, specifications, shop drawings, cabinet layouts and project documents.
- Coordinate work with Superintendents, Project Managers, subcontractors, and facility personnel.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Travel to project locations as required.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of commercial and/or residential construction and carpentry experience.
- Demonstrated experience with finish carpentry, doors, windows, drywall, framing, and general construction repairs.
- Experience with tile installation, painting, and light plumbing or electrical work preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- OSHA 10 certification required; OSHA 30 preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Ability to travel as required.
- Ability to lift 75 pounds, climb ladders, operate lifts, and perform physical construction activities.
- Experience working in occupied facilities, healthcare, government, educational, or correctional environments is preferred.

Pay: $25.50 – $38.00 per hour
