The Physical Architect is responsible for the design, integration and vehicle subsystems. This role supports vehicle and system architecture developed by creating and maintaining master models, ensuring design integrity, and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to deliver compliant, high quality engineering solutions.
Key Job Elements
- Design mobile defense subsystems with minimal supervision utilizing NX CAD software integrated to theTeamcenterdatabase
- Maintain vehicle master models and product structure (Virtual Engineering Unit) and administer working files for multiple design teams
- Work with team mentor to develop concepts and sub-system space and weight allocations
- Support model reviews using NX CAD software and/orTeamcenterVisualization
- Work team mentor to triage issues and develop solution concepts that are considerate of the entire system
- Ensure design integrity by performing dynamic motion, interference, and weight and center of gravity analyses; communicate results to internal customers
- Create solid models, layouts and associative assembly and detail drawings from sketches, notes or direction from senior designers or Project Engineers to stringent industry, company and military standards
Required Qualifications
- University degree or college diploma intheMechanical field
- Minimum1-2 yearsofexperience with NXCAD softwarein modeling, drafting and advanced assemblies
- Strong knowledge of the application and interpretation of Geometric Dimensioning andTolerancing(GD&T) from piece parts to complex assemblies
- Demonstrated strength in MS Office applications
- Ability to travel (5%Cdn) and (5% US & International) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport
- Experience with typical defenseand/or mobile equipment standards(e.g. MIL-Specs,ASME standards,SAE standards, FMVSS,etc.)
- Must be able to meet Anthropometrical Size Requirements for confined space
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum1-2years mechanical design utilizing CAD tools in a related industry
- Knowledge of military drawing practices including MIL-STD-100 and related ASME Y14 series standards
- Knowledge ofTeamcenterProduct Data Management application
- OACETT certified Mechanical Technologist or Technician (CET) with specialty in mobile equipment
