JOB STATEMENT:
As a Business Systems Analyst, you will support the firm’s investment data ecosystem by analyzing, maintaining, and improving core data used across portfolio management, trading, compliance, and reporting functions.
This role combines hands-on data analysis with exposure to investment systems such as Charles River and related platforms. You will focus on ensuring data accuracy, identifying trends, and driving process improvements, while providing occasional support for data-related issues.
Working within time-sensitive processes, you will investigate data exceptions, perform root cause analysis, and partner with business and technology teams to enhance data quality and workflows across the platform.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Analyze and validate investment data across portfolio management, trading, and accounting systems
- Research, source, and reconcile security master and reference data from internal and external providers
- Write and optimize SQL queries to investigate data issues, validate outputs, and support reporting needs
- Perform root cause analysis on data discrepancies, breaks, and recurring issues, and implement sustainable fixes
- Monitor and improve data flows and integrations between upstream and downstream systems
- Support the creation and maintenance of dashboards and reports (Excel, Power BI, or similar tools)
- Partner with business users (Portfolio Management, Trading, Operations, Compliance) to ensure data accuracy and usability
- Identify opportunities for automation, process optimization, and data quality improvements
- Assist with data mapping, workflow documentation, and data lineage tracking
- Participate in system testing (UAT), data validation, and enhancements to core platforms
Support Responsibilities (Secondary)
- Investigate and resolve data-related production issues and exceptions
- Provide support for escalated cases requiring analytical investigation
- Assist with operational coverage during peak periods or critical incidents
- Leverage support insights to drive process and data improvements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors of degree
- 1-3 years of financial services experience required
- 1–3 years of experience in data analysis, data operations, or a related role
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Intermediate SQL skills for querying, analysis, and data validation
- Advanced Excel skills for data manipulation and reporting
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work within time-sensitive processes
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with both technical and business stakeholders
- Financial markets and investment data knowledge and experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to investment systems such as Charles River, Eagle, or similar platforms
- Familiarity with security master, pricing, benchmarks, and reference data
- Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau)
- Understanding of investment workflows (portfolio management, trading, compliance, accounting)
- Experience with data quality, data governance, or master data management concepts
- Exposure to Python or other analytical tools is a plus
- Familiarity with market data vendors (Bloomberg, FactSet, Refinitiv, ICE)
- Bilingual candidates preferred (English & French)

COMPENSATION:
- The base salary range is expected to be between $60,000 – $90,000, with eligibility for a discretionary bonus. Compensation will be based on experience.
