Job Description:FirstPrinciples is seeking a dynamic and analytical Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst to play a pivotal role in assessing the funding landscape and research environment in theoretical physics. As a BI Analyst, you will be the foundation’s data-driven strategist, responsible for gathering, analyzing, and presenting data related to theoretical physics funding, research trends, and funding sources. You will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to drive data-driven decision-making and advocacy efforts.

Key Responsibilities:Funding Landscape Analysis:

Dive deep into the complex world of theoretical physics funding, tracking and documenting government grants, private sector investments, philanthropic contributions, and academic research funds.

Conduct a comprehensive analysis of funding trends over time, pinpointing patterns, anomalies, and emerging opportunities.

Identify funding gaps that may exist in theoretical physics research and suggest strategies to address them.

State of Theoretical Physics Research:

Take a global perspective on theoretical physics research, assessing the research output, collaboration networks, and research strengths by country.

Conduct in-depth comparative analyses to highlight similarities and differences between research landscapes in different regions, shedding light on the diverse nature of theoretical physics.

Annual Report Creation:

Craft an annual report titled “The State of Theoretical Physics,” a cornerstone document that provides a holistic view of the field’s funding and research trends.

Translate complex data into engaging narratives, insights, and actionable recommendations for stakeholders.

Collaborate closely with the Marketing and Communications Manager to ensure the report reaches a wide audience and influences policy and funding decisions.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Establish and maintain robust relationships with policy makers, government funders, academic institutions, and the global scientific community.

Leverage data-driven insights to advocate for proactive changes in theoretical physics funding, making a tangible impact on research priorities and funding strategies.

Data Visualization:

Harness the power of data visualization to create informative and visually compelling reports, dashboards, and presentations.

Develop captivating visuals that effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences.

Qualifications:

Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in data science, business analytics, economics, or a related field is required (Master’s degree preferred).

Experience: Proven experience in business intelligence, data analysis, or a related role is essential.

Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills are crucial for deciphering complex data and extracting meaningful insights.

Data Proficiency: Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Power BI) is necessary.

Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills are a must to effectively convey insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
