Business Development Director – Rail Engineering Services: About the Role
We are seeking an experienced rail industry sales leader to drive strategic growth for engineering services within the Rail & Transit sector. This role will focus on hunting new business opportunities, expanding relationships with Rail OEMs, EPCs, Transit Agencies, and Tier-1 suppliers, and driving large engineering service engagements globally.
Key Responsibilities
Drive new logo acquisition and strategic account growth within the Rail & Transit industry
Build relationships with Rail OEMs, Transit Agencies, EPC contractors, and rolling stock manufacturers
Identify And Pursue Opportunities Across
Rolling Stock
Signaling & CBTC
Digital Rail
Systems Engineering
Embedded Engineering
PLM/ER&D Services
Electrification & Infrastructure
Lead End-to-end Business Development Activities Including
Pipeline generation
Solution positioning
Proposal management
Commercial negotiations
Deal closure
Develop account strategies for key rail customers globally
Collaborate with delivery, engineering, and leadership teams to build winning solutions
Drive large engineering services engagements and multi-million-dollar opportunities
Maintain strong understanding of rail industry trends, modernization programs, and mobility transformation initiatives
Required Qualifications
10–18+ years of experience in Rail/Transit industry sales or business development
Strong experience selling Engineering Services / ER&D services into Rail customers
Proven track record of hunting and growing strategic accounts
Experience managing large deals and complex enterprise sales cycles
Strong network within Rail OEMs, Transit Authorities, EPCs, or Transportation sector
Understanding Of Rail Technologies Such As
CBTC
Signaling
Rolling Stock
Electrification
Systems Integration
Digital Engineering
Experience Working With Global Engineering Service Organizations Preferred
Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills
