Business Analyst – Technology / EUC Transformation

Role Summary

The Business Analyst will partner with business and technology stakeholders to analyze, define, and deliver technology solutions that support operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and business transformation initiatives. This role has a strong focus on End User Computing (EUC) remediation and conversions, data analysis and calculations, and process modernization within a regulated financial services environment.

Key Responsibilities

Business & Technology Analysis

  • Work closely with technology leads (Infrastructure Engineers, Application Analysts, Architects) to assess current-state systems, EUCs, and manual processes, and define future-state technology solutions.
  • Elicit, analyze, document, and validate business, functional, and non-functional requirements, ensuring alignment with regulatory, governance, and operational needs.
  • Translate business requirements into detailed functional specifications, data mappings, and calculation logic.
  • Develop Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) for new systems, enhancements, and EUC remediation initiatives.

EUC Conversion & Remediation

  • Identify, assess, and document End User Computing tools (e.g., Excel spreadsheets, Access databases, macros, manual calculators) used in business processes.
  • Analyze EUC logic, formulas, macros, calculations, and dependencies to support conversion to controlled technology solutions.
  • Define functional and calculation requirements to replace EUCs with approved platforms (e.g., applications, databases, reporting tools).
  • Support EUC risk mitigation by ensuring auditability, traceability, data integrity, and control requirements are embedded in solution designs.

Data, Calculations & Reporting

  • Perform detailed data analysis, including validation of business rules, formulas, calculations, and reconciliation logic.
  • Document calculation methodologies, assumptions, thresholds, and exceptions used in business processes and reporting.
  • Support development of management and regulatory reports, including defining metrics, KPIs, and data lineage.
  • Collaborate with developers and data teams to ensure calculations and transformations are implemented accurately.

Testing & Validation

  • Support business leads in translating requirements into test scenarios, test cases, and expected results.
  • Create and maintain User Acceptance Testing (UAT) plans, Business Verification plans, and testing artifacts.
  • Lead UAT execution, including defect triage, issue tracking, and validation of fixes.
  • Ensure testing evidence meets audit and compliance standards.

Process, Compliance & Delivery Support

  • Define and document operational procedures that meet compliance requirements and industry best practices.
  • Contribute to migration and implementation plans for system and EUC conversions.
  • Support project management activities including scope definition, effort estimation, risk identification, mitigation planning, and status reporting.
  • Adhere to local and Head Office project management and delivery methodologies.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or Operations Lead, preferably within banking or financial services.
  • Strong experience with EUC analysis, remediation, or conversion initiatives.
  • Proven ability to analyze and document complex calculations, formulas, and business rules.
  • Experience applying systems analysis techniques, including data flows, interfaces, process modeling, and controls.
  • Hands-on experience supporting UAT and business verification activities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (complex formulas, pivot tables, data analysis); experience with Visio and PowerPoint required.
  • Experience with Power BI, Business Objects, SharePoint, SQL, or similar tools is an asset.
  • Exposure to regulatory domains (e.g., KYC, risk, finance, operations) is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrixed, multi‑stakeholder environment across local and global teams.
