Title: AVP/VP
Location: Montreal, QC(Day 1 Onsite/Hybrid) – Fulltime
Mode of Work: 3 days/week onsite required

Job Overview
As a Business Analyst focused on Technical Delivery for a Trading Application, you will be responsible for gathering and analyzing system integration requirements, translating them into detailed technical user stories, and defining clear acceptance criteria. You will work closely with stakeholders, product managers, technical architects and development teams to ensure the seamless delivery of features and enhancements for the trading platform. This role requires a strong understanding of both business processes and technical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Requirements Gathering & Analysis:
- Collaborate with stakeholders (business, product owners, and technical teams) to understand business needs and translate them into actionable system integration requirements and agile backlog.
- Engage with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gain a deep understanding of trading workflows, data structures, and business rules.
- Identify system of record, map the business processes and workflows into technical requirements.
- Technical Story Creation:
- Write clear, concise, and technically accurate user stories for the development team, ensuring alignment with business requirements.
- Define and document the detailed technical requirements, including system interfaces, data flows, and business logic.
- Break down complex features into smaller, manageable tasks for development teams, ensuring that technical requirements are comprehensively captured.
- Acceptance Criteria:
- Develop and document precise, testable acceptance criteria for each user story.
- Work with QA teams to define test scenarios and ensure quality standards are met throughout the development lifecycle.
- Collaboration with Development Teams:
- Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and development teams, ensuring clear communication and understanding of requirements.
- Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and review sessions to ensure progress and issue resolution.
- Solution Validation:
- Review and validate that technical deliverables meet business requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Ensure that all documentation is kept up to date and reflects any changes or updates to requirements during the project lifecycle.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably with experience in trading applications, financial services, or similar industries.
- Proven experience in writing technical user stories, functional specifications, and acceptance criteria.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments and familiarity with Agile methodologies.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of components of a trading application (e.g., order management systems, market data feeds, execution engines, risk management, middle office etc).
- Familiarity with APIs, data integration, and messaging protocols commonly used in trading applications.
- Proficiency with tools like Jira, Confluence, and other business analysis or project management software.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:
- Strong analytical abilities with the capacity to break down complex business problems into actionable technical requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
- Communication Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product owners, developers, and QA engineers.
- Understanding of Financial Markets (Preferred):
- Knowledge of financial products (equities, derivatives) and trading strategies is a plus.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance in financial markets.
Desirable Qualifications
- Certifications:
- Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or similar certifications.
- Agile/Scrum certifications (e.g., ScrumMaster, Product Owner).
- Technical Expertise:
- Experience with scripting or query languages (SQL) for data analysis and validation is a plus.
