Product Business Analyst – Mortgage Domain (Contract Position)

Hybrid position 3-4d/w onsite downtown Toronto
Roles and responsibilities:
We are currently undergoing a strategic transformation, shifting our operations toward a product-based model and embracing Agile/Scrum methodologies. We are looking for a domain expert who understands the "why" behind mortgage operations and wants to play a pivotal role in shaping the "how" through our SAP ecosystem.
The Role: The Bridge Between Business & Tech
As a Product Business Analyst, you will be the vital link between our Mortgage Business Units and the SAP Functional Team. You aren’t just documenting tasks; you are ensuring that the entire lifecycle of our mortgage products—from origination and underwriting to funding—is supported by robust technical solutions.
While we use SAP as our backbone, we believe technical systems can be taught. What we value most is your deep understanding of the mortgage industry and your ability to think logically through complex business problems.
Primary Responsibilities
- Requirements Excellence: Gather and document clear business requirements and acceptance criteria that drive product value.
- Technical Translation: Act as a "translator," turning complex business needs into actionable technical language for our developers and integration teams.
- Solutioning: Perform light technical solutioning for straightforward requirements, helping streamline the development process.
- Production Support: Provide Level 1 and 2 incident support, managing data corrections and system updates to keep the business running smoothly.
- Agile Collaboration: Participate in Scrum ceremonies, helping the team pivot quickly and deliver high-quality increments.
Must-Haves:
A minimum of 5yrs of the following
- Deep Mortgage Domain Expertise: You have a comprehensive understanding of the mortgage lifecycle, specifically in origination, underwriting, and funding.
- Analytical Mindset: You possess a proven track record of logical thinking. You don't just see a problem; you see the root cause and the path to a solution.
- Communication Skills: The ability to explain complex financial processes to technical teams and vice-versa.
Nice-to-Haves:
- SAP Experience: Familiarity with SAP Banking modules (such as FS-CD or FS-CML) is a significant plus but not a dealbreaker.
- Agile Fluency: Experience working within an Agile/Scrum framework.
- Banking Knowledge: Broader experience in Deposit products
