Salary $34.22 to $37.20 per hour; plus an Inmate Training Differential allowance of 7% and a Correctional Service Specific Duty Allowance of $2,140 per year; allowances may be subject to change.

Duties Work duties may include:
Operation, installation, maintenance, repair of all heating, ventilation, air‑conditioning, refrigeration systems, components and equipment to provide optimum physical environmental conditions for the occupants, management and staff of the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) facilities.

Intent of the process Results of this process will be used to create a pool of qualified candidates from which future indeterminate and/or specified period vacancies may be filled. This process may be used to staff similar positions in the Pacific Region.

You need (essential for the job)

Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following

Education A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Occupational Certification

  • Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Technician
  • Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning Technician
  • An acceptable equivalent combination of relevant Building Trade, Technician, Technologist, and/or stationary engineer qualifications.

Experience Experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of commercial and/or institutional building systems such as:

  • Heating, ventilation and air‑conditioning (HVAC) systems;
  • Compressors; and/or walk‑in coolers and freezers,

Experience operating a variety of specialized maintenance tools, and equipment, including test equipment required for the operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems and equipment.

Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally.

Personal Suit abilities

    Language requirements (essential for the job)

    May be applied / assessed at a later date

    Qualified under the Boiler and Pressure Vessel regulations of the Province of employment to operate all the employer’s hot water and/or low pressure steam boilers. Possession of a Provincial Fourth Class Power Engineer’s Certificate of Competency or possession of a Provincial or the Inter‑provincial Standard (Red Seal) Endorsement for refrigeration and air conditioning or millwrights or college graduate in the field of HVAC systems or mechanical systems.
