Building Maintenance Assistant

Responsibilities:

You will be reporting to the Building Maintenance Manager, and following are the roles and responsibilities of the position.

Routine Maintenance:

Conduct regular inspections of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment longevity and optimal functionality.
Inspect and maintain building exteriors, such as roofs, windows, and facades.

Repairs and Troubleshooting:

Respond promptly to maintenance requests, identifying and resolving issues efficiently.
Conduct repairs on plumbing, and mechanical systems as needed. Liaison with vendors as needed.
Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions, implementing corrective measures.

Emergency Response:

Act as a point of contact for emergency situations, including fire alarms, floods, and power outages.
Coordinate with external service providers for emergency repairs when necessary.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment inspections.
Generate reports detailing maintenance schedules, completed tasks, and upcoming requirements.

Equipment Management:

Monitor and manage the inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies necessary for maintenance tasks.
Recommend upgrades or replacements for outdated or malfunctioning equipment.

Compliance and Safety:

Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, safety standards, and regulations.
Participate in safety training and implement safety protocols to create a secure working environment.

Communication:

Collaborate with other departments, contractors, and vendors as needed for maintenance and repair projects.
Communicate effectively with building occupants regarding maintenance schedules and disruptions.

Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school certification is preferred.
Proven experience in building maintenance or a related field.
Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and drawings.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical ability to perform manual tasks and lift heavy objects.
Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations.
Experience in senior living is an asset.
