We are looking for a leader to serve as Brio Care Manager at our dynamic and innovative Berwick House. About the Role:

Full-time, Monday – Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm.
Must be flexible in hours of work to meet operational requirements.
On-call duties as required.
Full and comprehensive benefits package.
Salary range between $86,000 – $89,500.

The Care Manager reports to the General Manager and/or Senior Brio Care Manager and is accountable for directing and mentoring care staff to ensure resident-focused care is achieved. This role promotes high quality care and maintains accountability of staff to ensure that all persons served receive the appropriate level of care. The Care Manager is a key leader in the community and collaborates with the Leadership Team to act as a professional role model for all staff by providing clinical guidance by following all appropriate regulations and guidelines.

Responsibilities

Include but not limited to:

Resident Care:

Ensures there is ongoing development of comprehensive care plans tailored to the resident’s short and long term requirements.
Ensures the care plans are compliant with licensing regulations and best practice standards.
Monitors and evaluates for effectiveness and changing care needs and ensures appropriate action is taken in a timely manner.
Provides residents with a free of harm and comfortable environment.

Leadership:

Provides leadership and direction to staff involved in the provision of continuing care by fostering and promoting new initiatives; interpreting and implementing care related policies and procedures.
Coordinates and communicates with other departments and staff to ensure that goals and planned changes are monitored and reviewed.
Ensures all Nursing staff receive a standardized orientation upon hire, In-service training, work assignments, monitoring, and performance evaluations.
Maintains a safe environment for residents, family and staff, through: accident prevention, knowledge of emergency procedures and regulations, the safe use of supplies and equipment and reporting when repairs are necessary, and utilizing infection control procedures
Is directly involved in the performance management of all care staff.
Shares information to assist in developing and implementing best practices throughout the organization.

Budget & Financial:

Is responsible for forecasting budget requirements and monitoring and approving expenditures including identifying and recommending new sources for products and services and providing rationale for budget variances.

Occupancy:

Works with the General Manager and Community Relations Manager to assess care requirements and suitability of private pay applicants.

Regulatory Compliance:

Investigates, documents, reports, and takes the appropriate corrective action in situations where a serious incident has occurred.
Exchanges information and resolves serious incident situations related to nursing and direct resident care
Ensures licensing requirements as outlined by the; Community Care and Assisted Living Act, Heath Professions Act, Residential Care Regulation, etc. are met.
Clinical on call as directed by the General Manager or designate.
Monitors and addresses care staff standards and daily staffing levels.

Operational and Administrative Systems:

As an integral member of the site management team, participates in decision-making – particularly in matters related to health and safety, resident care, financial, and human resources management.
Ensures that there are effective communication systems in place for staff, residents and families.
Perform all other duties as required

Qualifications and Skills

Current LPN registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives
1 to 4 years’ management and/or supervisory experience preferred. Experience in a Long-term care, Assisted Living or senior services setting an asset.
All successful applicants must pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check applicable to Provincial guidelines.
Ability to multi-task.
Ability to plan, direct and control the delivery of multi-faceted care services.
Knowledge of health care related technology systems – EMAR, point click care, excelleris
Extensive knowledge of the Residential Care Regulations; Community Care and Assisted Living Act

Special Requirements:

Flexible hours
Must have the capacity to deal with physical and mental impairment, death, and dying.
Must be prepared to respond to emergent situations.
