Part-Time Breast Screening Administrative Assistant
15 hours per week (including Fridays, 08:30–16:30)
We are looking for a motivated and organised individual to join our friendly team within the Breast Screening Unit. This is a rewarding opportunity to support an essential service that plays a vital role in women’s health.
About The Role
As an Administrative Assistant, you will provide a professional, efficient, and confidential administrative service as part of the NHS Breast Screening Programme. You will be a key member of the team, helping to ensure the smooth and effective running of the service.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Supporting the day-to-day administration of the Breast Screening Unit
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to maintain an efficient service
- Ensuring accurate and timely communication of screening results to women attending for mammography
- Adhering to NHS Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP), Quality Assurance (QA) standards, and local policies

Main duties of the job
- As a Breast Screening Administrator, you will be part of a team responsible for the co-ordination and organisation of the East Berkshire NHS Breast Screening Programme.
- The role includes using the telephone system to schedule appointments and using databases for data entry, data collection, clinic and patient management; ensuring the right results are sent to women attending for mammography appointments; communicating directly with patients and all levels of clinical and non-clinical staff, in particular regular use of the telephone within a busy office environment.
- You will be expected to make decisions which will lead to good booking practice, and the provision of an excellent support mechanism for both patients and clinical teams.
- We are looking for someone who can make balanced decisions, has experience of customer care, is able to demonstrate great role model behaviours, with outstanding communication and listening skills.
