Responsibilities
- Coordinate and dispatch freight shipments using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine to ensure timely deliveries.
- Manage port operations, including shipping & receiving, container handling, and yard management, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Utilize GPS and GIS tools for route planning, tracking vehicle locations, and optimizing fleet utilization.
- Communicate effectively via multi-line phone systems, maintaining professional phone etiquette while providing updates to drivers, vendors, and internal teams.
- Enter data accurately into AS400 and other enterprise systems for shipment tracking, inventory updates, and reporting purposes.
- Monitor fleet management activities including vehicle maintenance schedules, driver logs, and compliance documentation.
- Analyze logistics data to identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies; implement process improvements to enhance overall supply chain performance.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS), Oracle Transportation Management, and SyteLine software platforms.
- Proficiency with GPS technology, GIS mapping tools, and transportation planning techniques.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems professionally.
- Demonstrated analysis skills for evaluating freight routes, port operations, and supply chain data.
- Experience with dispatching freight carriers within a 3PL (third-party logistics) environment or port setting.
- Familiarity with shipping & receiving procedures, fleet management practices, and logistics coordination.
- Competency in data entry tasks using AS400 or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems; strong typing skills are essential.
