Steele Hotels is looking for a Bartender to join our growing team at JAG Hotel in St. John’s, NL. The ideal candidate would possess a positive “can-do” attitude and a high level of professionalism, coupled with a strong work ethic and customer service skills. This often involves working in fast-paced environments at varying times throughout the day or night.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Greet and welcome guests in a friendly and professional manner
  • Take beverage orders from customers and prepare and serve beverages promptly, ensuring quality service and guest satisfaction, and serve food when required
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of the drink menu and specials and make recommendations
  • Monitor the bar area, promptly addressing and resolving any guest issues
  • Accurately track credit card receipts and cash transactions while collecting customer payments
  • Adhere to all alcohol service regulations and safety guidelines, including checking IDs when necessary
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including washing glassware and restocking supplies
  • Demonstrate a professional and positive presentation to guests and colleagues, and be well-groomed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes:

  • Serve Responsible Certificate required, or willingness to obtain the certification
  • Completion of a Bartending program from an accredited school is an asset
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in order processing and cash handling
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff and other team members to ensure smooth service
  • Quick problem-solving skills to address customer complaints and requests
