Full job description
Background:Vesper hospitality group is preparing to launch an exciting new restaurant and liquor primary lounge in the center of downtown Vancouver’s commercial district on the first and second floor of 905 Dunsmuir Street. Note that we will be hosting a hiring fair for lounge positions on location between April 25 to April 28.
As a Lounge Bartender, you will be responsible for crafting exceptional cocktails and providing outstanding service in a sophisticated lounge setting during evening and night shifts. You will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming atmosphere and ensuring that guests have a memorable experience. Your friendly demeanor and attention to detail will contribute to the overall ambiance of the lounge, keeping guests coming back for more.
Key Responsibilities:
Mixing and Serving Drinks: Prepare and serve a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including cocktails, spirits, wines, and beers, adhering to established recipes and standards.
Customer Service: Provide exceptional service to guests, engaging with them in a friendly and professional manner, anticipating their needs, and making personalized recommendations based on their preferences.
Menu Knowledge: Have a thorough understanding of the drink menu, including ingredients, flavors, and presentation, and be able to answer any questions guests may have.
Maintaining Cleanliness: Keep the bar area clean, organized, and well-stocked at all times, including glassware, garnishes, and supplies. Adhere to health and safety standards and practices.
Upselling and Promotion: Promote special offers, new menu items, and promotions to guests, upselling when appropriate to enhance their experience and increase revenue.
Cash Handling: Handle cash, credit card transactions, and operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately and efficiently, processing payments and closing tabs promptly.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including servers, kitchen staff, and management, to ensure smooth operations and provide seamless service to guests.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a bartender in a lounge or upscale bar environment preferred.
Extensive knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wine, and beer.
Strong customer service ability to communicate effectively and build rapport with guests.
Attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Valid Serving It Right certification.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move heavy objects (e.g., cases of beverages).
Manual dexterity and coordination for mixing drinks and handling bar tools.
Stamina and energy to maintain high levels of productivity and service throughout shifts.
