The Integrated Threat Assessment Unit (ITAU) gathers intelligence and conducts threat assessments for high-security/high-profile trials, appearances and escorts throughout the province. Following the completion of threat assessments, the unit is available to assist with operational planning for these events and situations.

The Senior Inspector is responsible for conducting internal investigations and investigating threats and inappropriate communication to court services personnel, judiciary, crown counsel and employees of the Province of British Columbia. The Senior Inspector supervises the Provincial Intelligence Analysts, Senior Intelligence Officers, Intelligence Case Manager and open-source analyst located in various locations in the province and provides guidance and leadership to these positions.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (e.g., Criminology, Sociology, Psychology)orprofessional certification in threat evaluation and management (e.g., Certified Threat Specialist)oran equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training may be considered.

Minimum two (2) years’ recent (within the last 4 years) supervisory experience.

Must have a minimum of five (5) years’ recent experience in law enforcement e.g., Sheriff Services, Police Services, Conservation Services etc.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

Completion of force response options training or able to obtain certification

Qualified to use a 9 mm handgun or able to obtain certification.

Protective Intelligence Officer training.

Completion of a threat management program recognized in North America.

Completion of Incident Command System training.

Completion of Infrastructure and Vulnerability Assessment training.

Provisos:

Candidates must complete background and security checks and be eligible to achieve and maintain an enhanced security clearance including Top Secret Clearance (completed through the RCMP).

Must be an active member, or be eligible for, membership in one or more of the following; the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals, Canadian Association of Threat Assessment Professionals, Criminal Intelligence Service of British Columbia; National Sheriffs Association, International Association of Law Enforcement Intelligence Analysts, the International Association of Court Officers and Counter Terrorism Information Officer program.

Work shifts, callout and standby as scheduled or required.

Provincial, National and International travel may be required.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
